Q. Do
I need to supply music, or will you do that?
A. We do have music you can choose from, but we find that
most of our customers prefer to provide their own music on a CD.
Q. How
do I prepare my music?
A. Music from the original CD guarantees the best quality.
Simply organize your CD's and prepare an outline of the order in
which your music should be heard. You can also burn your songs to
a CD.
Q. How
many musical selections should I use?
A. That depends on the length of your project. For example,
100 pictures would be around a 10 to 15 minute production - you'll
need three to four songs for every 100 pictures.

Q.
What video formats do you accept?
A. We accept VHS, S-VHS, Mini-DV and 8 mm formats.
Q. How
much video footage can fit on a DVD?
A. Ninety minutes of video per DVD is recommended to ensure
the best quality, however 120 minutes can fit.
Q. Can
I combine multiple videotapes to create a single DVD?
A. Yes, you can combine VHS tapes to create a single DVD.
Just make sure to number your tapes in the order that you wish them
to appear.
Q. What
are "Chapters?"
A. Chapters are specific scenes that have been detected within
your video, and are very similar to the chapters in a book that
divide the story into related pieces. When you index your video
into separate chapters, your DVD will allow you to skip to any chapter
without the need to fast forward.
Q. What
should I consider when selecting images for my DVD?
A. Choose your most meaningful pictures, slides, or paper
memorabilia. Horizontal photographs work better than vertical because
TV screens are wider than they are high. Choose a mix of close-ups
and group photos and action photos. If you have a choice, avoid
photos that are out of focus photos and too many photos without
people.
Q. What
about the order of my photos?
A. We will prepare your project in the exact order that you
send the photos to us. Generally, you will want to organize them
in one of two ways:
- Chronologically,
as in birth, toddler years, childhood, teen, dating, work, marriage,
children, or by decade, as in 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, etc.
- By theme,
e.g., eating, moving, vacationing, Mother's side of the family,
Father's side of the family, cars he has owned, fancy dresses
she has worn, and so on.
Q. How
long will each image appear on the screen?
A. The average length of each image is from 6-8 seconds depending
on the over all length of the entire production.
Q. How
many photos do I need to make up a 5, 10 or 20-minute production?
A. 50 photos will result in a 5 to 7 minute production
100 photos
= 10 to 12 minutes
150 photos = 15 to 22 minutes
500 photos = more than one hour
1000 photos = two hours
Q. My
photos are stuck in the albums - how can I use them?
A. You should provide us with the entire album and we can
digitally scan right through the plastic. Just place a sticky on
the page or photo you want to include in the production.
Q. What
are special effect transitions?
A. The basic package includes picture-in-picture transitions.
As one picture dissolves, the next picture gracefully appears. For
an additional cost, we can provide special effect transitions. With
special effects, we move from picture to picture so that the effect
is not jerky or cut like a slideshow. Our transitions range from
the basic dissolves and wipes, to 3D transitions. For example, one
photo rolls up in the shape of a balloon and floats away over the
top of the new photo.
